Mazen Kiki has become our lab member since Aug 2020. Congratulations!
New papers accepted
- Alamdari, A., Lee, J., Emon, M.O.F., Kim, M., Dhinojwala, A., Choi, J.W., “Effect of Surface Energy Reducing Agents on Adhesion Force in Liquid Bridge Microstereolithography,” Additive Manufacturing, Accepted.
- Lin, M., Dilibal, S., Vatani, M., Choi, J.W., Engeberg, E., “Compliant Underwater Manipulator with Integrated Tactile Sensor for Nonlinear Force Feedback Control of an SMA Actuation System,” Sensors and Actuators: A. Physical.
He had a defense in July 31 2020 and is supposed to graduate in Aug 2020. Congratulations!
Omar became Dr. Emon
Congratulations!!! Mr. Emon successfully defended his Ph.D thesis in April 2. All the committee members loved his research and congratulated on his degree. He is the 4th doctor following Drs. Morteza Vatani, Yanfeng Lu, Faez Alkadi in AAML. He is currently finalizing publication work before he graduates in summer.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the defense was accomplished by a Webex conference.
New paper – 3D conformal printing
A new paper titled “Conformal additive manufacturing using a direct-print process” authored by Alkadi et al. has been published in Additive Manufacturing (Vol 32, 100975). Congratulations!

His work started from Oct 2019. Additive Manufacturing is a top-ranked journal in the area of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
Byungchul joined the lab
Welcome!
Mr. Byungchul Yang joined the lab. His M.S. research starts in Jan 13 2020. He had worked for more than seven years at an electroplating company in S. Korea. His involvement is a great addition to a new area – hybrid additive manufacturing for 3D printed electronics.
Congratulations!
Omar Faruk Emon, mechanical engineering Ph.D. student at The University of Akron, won first place and a prize of $3,000 in the Monte Jade Innovation Competition 2019 in the Future Tire category. Sponsored by the Monte Jade Science and Technology Association and Maxxis Tires, this national competition promotes innovation among college students in the fields of science and technology.
Congratulation!
Title: Ionic liquid-based 3D printed soft pressure sensors and their applications.
Now he is under ABD and we call him a Ph.D. candidate, not a student. He plans to have a Ph.D. defense in spring 2020. He has published several papers and plans to submit more manuscripts soon.
